Evaluation question 2:How does your media product represent particular social groups?
For this question I have decided to create a multiple posters showing how and why we represented particular social groups.
Below is the PowerPoint I created.

Evaluation question 3: What kind of media institution might distribute your media product, and why?
For this question I have produced a poster to show what kinds of media institutions there are. I evaluated them which concluded which one we would like our film to be a part of and be presented on. I chose to talk about Film4, the BBC and LIONSGATE.
Below is a picture of my poster.

Evaluation question 4: Who do you think the target market for your media product would be?
For evaluation question 4, Hannah and I decided that recording other people and ourselves explaining who the target audience would be and the reasons for the answer. We thought that this would be the easiest way to capture what people really thought about the target market. Below is the video we made of our friends saying what they think, Hannah and I are also explaining at the end our views.

Evaluation question 5:How did you attract/address your audience?
For this question I created a power point explaining the ways we would address our audience.
Below is the power point I created.

Evaluation question 6: What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product.
For this question, Myself and Hannah Higgins have created a Prezi. It explains what technologies we have used, and why we used them. At the end of each bubble, we have written our full names to determine who wrote each section.
Below is the link to the Prezi.

Evaluation question 7:Looking back at you preliminary task, what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it to the full product?
For this question I am going to be presenting a blog post about what I have learnt and about the information that I have gained throughout the process of making the final media product.
Below is our preliminary task, which is our first media product that we filmed and edited:
Below is the final media product. A title sequence of a horror film, aimed at people of the age of around 15-25:
Throughout making both of these media products, I have gained a lot of information about sound, editing, camera shots and angles, and the technology we have used to produce the products.
The first thing I am going to be talking about is the editing process.
Throughout the filming and editing process I have learnt a lot. One of the main things I have learnt is that you need to be precise with all the corrections and improvements you make to the media product. From making the preliminary task we did not use a lot of different editing techniques, we cut and edited only a few clips together. As a whole this task was slightly easier than what we got for our main media task. One of the progressions I have made is knowing how and why you need to get the clips to look continuos throughout the whole product. This took a lot more time than expected. We have also progressed a vast amount regarding the other editing categories, for example we needed to add titles into the final media product, this took time to understand and work out; however we are both pleased with how the titles came out. I feel as a whole we have both progressed massively regarding the beginning of making the preliminary task to now.
The second area I am going to be talking about is sound.
When first filming the preliminary task, we did not know how to add foley sound, or a backing track to the clips. This meant that the sound was very bleak, and it did not add character to the media product. Sound is really important when making a media product as it adds a lot of character and can give something away that the protagonist may not, for example a loud build up of music in a horror film will normally present that something bad is going to happen. In our final production, we used foley sounds, and a backing track. An example of foley sound is the leaves crunching, or a stick snapping. We used all three of these examples in our final media product to simply add effect to it. Not only did we use the sound library for some of the sounds we used, we created and recorded our own sounds. An example of this is when the venerable young girl is shouting "Monty" who is her dog. This adds effect to the production as it puts you slightly on edge, as you know she is worried that her dog is not with her anymore and that she is in the woods alone.
The final section I will be talking about is the camera.
From the preliminary task to now, I feel that I have learnt a vast amount of the camera angles and shots that there are. I have also felt as if I have gained a lot of information about the composition of a shot etc. The camera shots and angles are important as they suggest things to the audience that you would not know if the camera was not in a certain way etc. An example of this is in our final media product. We have used multiple camera angles to show that someone is watching the girl as she is walking through the woods looking for her dog. We have used this angle as it shows that she is venerable and that she is alone with 'supposedly' no one in the woods with her. Another example of a camera shot is a close up of the dog in the final production, This was to show that something was going to happen with the dog before any suggestions were made. We also used a medium close up of the protagonist to show that she is scared. In both our productions, we used many different camera angles and shots, we used them to simply portray the emotions and the suggestions that were being made throughout.
Overall I feel that I have progressed from the preliminary task to now. Regarding the sound, editing and the camera angles.

Editing
Through the process of editing, we hit hurdles along the way; for example the brightness of the clips. however we did overcome. The brightness of the clips were important as the aim of the title sequence was for it to be a horror film. When we were filming the title sequence it got dark very quickly which made it hard to get clear, non pixilated clips. Even though this was a big issue we managed to make the clips with just the right contrast of darkness and brightness. Another issue that we overcame was making the sound track and the Foley sound fit with the clips. To do this we had to make sure that they fitted we had to watch the clips numerous time so that they would fit exactly. Although we had some problems with editing it, overall it was not really difficult to edit. Hannah and I both found it informative and interesting to find out what editing something like this is like and we also found it interesting to see how long it actually takes to edit something fairly long.
Below are some pictures which show us editing the title sequence.

Practice main task
We wanted to practice the camera angles we thought we were going to use. We also wanted to ensure that the conditions were correct so for example we needed to be filming whilst still slightly light, but getting dark. Below is our practice for the final product.

Location (Pre production)
As part of our pre production we went to the place where we are hoping to film and took some pictures to make sure that it would be the perfect place to film. It was also important to do this so we could start planning where in the location we were going put the camera etc.
These are some of the pictures we took.
These are some of the pictures we took.
This will help us as it helps us decide where exactly we are going to film and where we are going to place the camera etc. Although this was before it was getting dark, and when we officially film our main task, it will still give us a good idea of what we are going to film. It is a good location because the trees are not too close together, this means that it will allow us to move the camera and change places.
Pre Production
For the pre production of our title sequence we have done multiple preparations, For example we produced a story board which will help us a lot when we are filming it because it will show us what shot and angle we are meant to do and what other props etc. are involved in the scene.
This is our story board.

Star diagrams
In a previous media lesson we looked at various title sequences from three different film makers. We were told to put a cross on the diagram where we taught the sequence was. This was a good exercise because it made us think about what impression we get from each sequence. Below is what I put for one of the title sequences.
Live action story boards
In our lesson we were looking at live story boards on you tube. This helped us a lot because it showed us that picturing what your going to film in your head is not good enough and that you need to get it onto paper. This is to make sure that when we are filming the title sequence we know exactly how we want it. Looking at them on you tube helped us to also see what other experienced film makers are making and it gives us ideas.

Example title sequences
I looked at some example title sequences to get an idea of what it possible. The first place I looked was you tube. I found a fault in our stars title sequence. I especially liked this one as it was animated and it really gave the impression of what the story is about. However it was good also because it did not tell the story it just gave you an impression of it.
I also looked at the title sequence for the life of pi. I particularly liked this one as it was very simple but effective. The bright orange colour which is also the main colour of the film makes them link very well. The music also fits in perfectly with the sequence.
